PorchRokr, Goo Goo Dolls at Blossom highlight things to do in Akron this weekend

It's never too early to plan your weekend because, let's be honest, we're looking forward to it as soon as the week begins. From concerts to festivals to farmers markets to comedy shows, we've got a regional list of events from Akron to Cleveland to Youngstown and more. Whether you're planning a girls' night out, a date night or a family-friendly activity, we've got you covered.

Here are the events coming up this weekend into the following weekend that are worth highlighting:

PorchRokr in Akron's Highland Square

Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood will host the performances of nearly 150 bands on its residents’ porches for the 11th iteration of PorchRokr on Saturday.

The music portion of the festival will begin at 11 a.m. and end with headliner Detention Live on the main stage at 7:30 p.m. A silent disco and official after party will be held at House Three Thirty from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. During the day, the lot behind 52 and 56 Beck Ave. will also have activities with Summit Metro Parks, Akron Children's Museum and PBS Kids for children's entertainment.

Before PorchRokr begins, there will be a PorchRokr 5K at 8 a.m. and a Yoga Squared class on the main stage (between 42 Beck Ave. and the Fifth Third Bank on the corner of W. Market Street) at 9:30 a.m.

The Friday before the event, House Three Thirty and The Nightlight will offer a free showing of "Marcel the Shell." Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7 p.m. Seating is first come, first served.

Props and Pistons Festival at Akron-Fulton Airport

Saturday and Sunday at Akron-Fulton Airport, 1600 Triplett Blvd., Akron. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and veterans, $5 for kids ages 6 to 17 and free for kids ages 5 and under. Event features free flight simulators, a kids zone, car show, live music and food trucks. Rides on certain aircraft are first come, first serve and range from around $50 to several hundred dollars. 'Jekyll and Hyde' at Western Reserve Playhouse
