This is a matter of the Security Council and the country’s unified information policy during the war, Podolyak, a member of the Ukrainian delegation in the talks with Russia, said in an interview with news website LB Live.

“(The channels were partially broadcasting the national telethon) – yes. And partially they broadcast (news about) a person who is very much in love with himself,” Podolyak said.

“So this person, so self-loving, an indirect owner of channels, I don’t really understand why in the war-time you sell this self-love, your narratives in this form as part of the unified information package,” Podolyak said.

The State Special Communications Service of Ukraine said the disconnection from digital broadcasting of Priamyi, 5 Kanal and Espreso TV was carried out under a decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

In turn, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that these channels allegedly did not want to participate in the unified national broadcasting telethon, therefore, he said, this decision was not about censorship, but about security.

According to 5 Kanal CEO Volodymyr Mzhelskyi, the broadcasters were offered to broadcast a joint telethon without participating in its production. That is, actually pay for the broadcasting of someone else's content.

Independent media, which include 5 Kanal and Priamyi, have repeatedly appealed to the National Council, the National Security and Defense Council and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy to take part in the production, not just broadcast the telethon, but say there has been no response.
