Take in Port Lucy, Nooney Farm and Bitter Pill at the Lounge: 15 things to do this weekend

It's another peak-of-summer weekend here on the Seacoast. Get out there and enjoy some live music with a picnic dinner and some of our other quintessential summer traditions while you still can. Don't let this beautiful July pass you by.

Port Lucy evening of music and conversation is free

Part social event, part concert, and part conversation, Port Lucy celebrates and connects women musicians, those in the music industry, and their audiences. On Thursday, July  21 at 8 p.m., there'll be an evening of music and conversation with performing artists OOMPA, a Boston-born poet, rapper and educator, and Briezy Jane, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and a panel of women in the arts and entertainment industries at 3S Arspace in Portsmouth. The evening is the second in a new quarterly series presented by 3S Artspace. The panel discussion and Q&A will be moderated by creative strategist Courtney Daniel. Guest panelists include Rachael Pazdan, manager of events at Rolling Stone, and Jess Page, co-founder of women-owned artist services firm Rareform. This event is free, but registration is required at 3sarts.org.

Dover Community Band to perform

On Thursday, July 21, the Dover Community Band will perform at the Rotary Arts Pavilion at Henry Law Park in downtown Dover from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The Dover Community Band is a traditional, New England community band made up of volunteer musicians from around the Dover area under the direction of Michele Boulanger. The repertoire of the band includes a wide variety of music. The concert is free but donations to the Cochecho Arts Festival are accepted.

Music by the Sea at Odiorne Point

The Atlantic Grill Music by the Sea concert series continues on Thursday, July 21 in Odiorne Point State Park with Seacoast favorite Jumbo Circus Peanuts. Concerts are held under a tent on the Seacoast Science Center's lawn, rain or shine. Bring a beach blanket or chair, pack a picnic, or purchase dinner and beverages on site. Concert-goers can also enjoy the Center's exhibits free with concert admission. The music begins at 6 p.m.; gates open at 5 p.m. for dining. Tickets are $20 for non-members and $15 for members; under 3, free, and available at seacoastsciencecenter.org.

Diaspora Radio takes on Sir Elton

Diaspora Radio will perform Elton John's 1972 album Honky Chateau on Thursday, July  21 at 9 p.m., doors open at 8, at the Press Room in Portsmouth. Tickets are $15 for this 21-plus show and available at pressroomnh.org.

This weekend at the Prescott Park Arts Festival

On Thursday, July 21 at 7 p.m., the Prescott Park Arts Festival will present a concert by Deer Tick. Lightning Bug will open for them.

The Prescott Park Arts Festival will present three performances of "Footloose" this weekend - Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m.

At 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, there'll be a performance of "James and The Giant Peach Jr."

The Monday Night Movie this week is "Moonrise Kingdom."

Performances are free, but there is a suggested donation of $10 per person at the gate or online at prescottpark.org. Bring your own chair, blanket and dinner or you can reserve one from the festival online at prescottpark.org.

Soggy Po' Boys headline Cochecho Arts Festival

The Cochecho Arts Festival in Dover continues on Friday, July 22 with the Seacoast's own Soggy Po' Boys at the Rotary Arts Pavilion in Henry Law Park in Dover. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. so bring your blanket, chair and dinner to stake out a spot. The concert is free, but donations are welcome. You can even buy a festival button for $10 to support the arts festival, get a few perks and wear when you attend festival events. Learn more at dovernh.org/cochecho-arts-festival.

Joe Perry Project at Hampton Beach Casino

The Joe Perry Project will perform at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom on Thursday, July 21 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. This is an 18-plus, seated show. For tickets and more info, visit casinoballroom.com.

Bitter Pill at Music Hall Lounge

On Friday, July 22 at 8 p.m., Seacoast band Bitter Pill will perform at the new Music Hall Lounge in Portsmouth. Tickets range from $28 to $38 depending on where you'd like to sit, and are available at themusichall.org.

Standup comedy benefit at The Brook

Legendary Boston comedian Steve Sweeney will perform his standup comedy on Friday, July 22 at The Brook to benefit the Annie's Angels Memorial Foundation. Show begins at 8 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m. for cash bar and special VIP dinner menu. Tickets are $25. The Brook is located at 319 New Zealand Road in Seabrook. Jazz in the Streets Saturday

Jazz in the Streets will present Johanna Landis & Friends, with Johanna on piano and vocals and Charlie Jennison on piano and sax, on Saturday, July 23 at the Vaughan Mall Stage just off the Worth parking lot in Portsmouth from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Jazz in the Street is free and open to the public. It is part of the Seacoast Jazz Society’s threefold mission to: increase enthusiasm for jazz, support local musicians, and provide scholarships for young artists. The Summer in the Street music series continues on Pleasant Street in Portsmouth with a free concert by TJ Wheeler & Friends on Saturday, July 23 at 5:30 p.m. Pleasant Street from Porter Street to Market Square will be closed from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Vehicular traffic and parking on that section of Pleasant Street will be prohibited. Maine Open Farm Day in Kittery

Tucked away in the heart of Kittery, across from the Shapleigh Middle School, something special is growing. Teams of farmers, dozens of volunteers, and classes of students are raising produce for restaurants and farm markets, growing rows and rows of food to feed the community, and learning about birds, bees, beets and beans. Kittery Land Trust has recently reached 75% of its $1.2 million campaign goal for Nooney Farm and will launch the final push to raise the remaining $300,000 at Maine Open Farm Day on Sunday, July 24 when the community is invited to visit the farm from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can explore the farm's 30 acres, tour its gardens, see demonstrations of wood working and flower arranging as well as children’s activities and market vendors.  See the full program of events at kitterylandtrust.org.

Suite Sundays at The Dance Hall

The Annex Contemporary Dance Company will return to The Dance Hall on Sunday, July 24 at 3 p.m. for Suite Sundays: Contemporary Chamber Ballet in collaboration with Aliento Chamber Players. Artistic Director Julie Hebb and the Aliento Chamber musicians led by Dorothy Braker will present an afternoon of live music and new, contemporary ballet, featuring the works of Bach, Piazzolla, Gershwin, and Camille Saint-Saëns in an intimate chamber setting. It will also feature the premiere of an original Kalimba score by NYC-based composer David Sannella, as well as a special performance of The Dying Swan by guest dance artist Naomi Sawyer.

Annex Contemporary Dance Company is the resident professional performing troupe of The Dance Annex Studio in York, Maine. Tickets are $22 in advance; $25 at the door and available at thedancehallkittery.org/events.

Sundays in the Garden series continues

On Sunday, July 24,  singer-songwriter Thea Hopkins, a member of the Aquinnah Wampanoag tribe of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, will perform at the Hamilton House in South Berwick. Bring a blanket, chairs and picnic basket for the concert, which will run 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are available online at historicnewengland.org or at the gate. General admission is $10 adults, $9 seniors, and $7 youth. Concert is free for Historic New England members. In the event of inclement weather, Sundays in the Garden concerts will be held at Berwick Academy's Patricia Baldwin Whipple Arts Center Theater.

Marjorie Senet at The Press Room

On Sunday, July 24, at 6 p.m., Marjorie Senet & The Broken Home Boys will perform upstairs at the Press Room in Portsmouth. Doors open at 5 p.m. for the 18-plus show, which is celebrating the release of their new album "Break The Habit." Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 day of show and available at pressroomnh.com.
