A Port Orange father of three driving home from work was killed in a crash Saturday morning in Daytona Beach.

David Thorpe, Sr., 28, was driving a 2017 Dodge Charger and was struck at the intersection of Mason Avenue and Bill France Blvd. at 6 a.m. on Saturday, said his fiancee, Teriyana Frost.

"I really don't have any answers as to how I lost my fiance," a distraught Frost said.

The News-Journal reached out to the Daytona Beach Police Department's spokeswoman Monday morning and to Chief Jakari Young on Monday afternoon but got no response.

In 9-1-1 calls to dispatchers, one caller said he had blocked the intersection and had his flashers on for safety and that debris was all over the road.

"There is a car on its side, a Dodge Charger, send emergency services, send ambulances," the caller said to the dispatcher.

In another call, a worker at the Circle K gas station across from the scene of the incident, also said the Dodge Charger was overturned.

Frost said her partner of 10 years was leaving work at B. Braun Medical Inc. on Mason Avenue and was crossing Bill France Boulevard when he was hit by a Range Rover.

Thorpe had been working at the medical company as an IV bag inspector for two years, Frost said.

In a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for Thorpe's funeral, Frost described how the fatal vehicle crash has affected her.

"I found out this morning that my three children and I Lost The Love Of Our Lives and The Center Of Our World David Lamar Thorpe, Sr. in a fatal car crash that happened on his way home from work," Frost wrote. "I am at a loss for what to do, but I know for right now I have to plan a proper service for him."

Thorpe leaves behind three children ages 2, 4, and 6. He was also caring for his 10-year-old niece, Frost said.

"David was an amazing partner, father, friend, and provider," Frost said in the GoFundMe post. "If you can find it in your heart to help me with his final expenses and to get me and his children on our feet after this tragedy, we would be eternally grateful."

Frost and Thorpe's sister, April Kelley, said on Monday that they are upset that police have given them little information on what happened to their loved one.

Frost said that the gas station clerk who called 9-1-1 told them that Thorpe had a green light and while he was crossing Bill France, he was T-boned by the Range Rover that ran the red light.

"I want to make sure justice is served for my brother," Kelley said.
