KEY ACTION Discussed a possible sidewalk project with Thrasher Co. representatives, Erin Wright and Steve Hamit.

DISCUSSION OMEGA had previously proposed a Safe Routes to School Plan which did not get approved by the state. Thrasher Co. will contact OMEGA and gather information from them from the previous plans. They will re-evaluate the project and bring it back to council at a later date.

OTHER ACTION

• Approved the renewal of the village’s liability and auto insurance with Whitaker-Myer Agency, at an annual cost of $8070.

• Approved for new LED lights in the street maintenance garage.

• Approved the purchase of two garage door openers for the street maintenance garage along with repairs/replacement of two man doors.

• Approved a resolution to amend permanent appropriations.

• Approved a resolution to authorize the expenditures for the American Rescue Plan Act Funds as a standard allowance revenue replacement.

• Approved the adoption of the Uniform Guidance Procurement Policy for ARPA Funding as required.

• Approved an ordinance to authorize an increase in the Micro-Purchase Threshold for the ARPA Funding projects.

• Mayor Tom Gardner noted that clean up notices will be issued as needed.

• Approved the installation of a garage door opener at the Historical Society building.

FOR YOUR INFO

• Discussed plans for the annual Memorial Day Event. Services will begin at noon at the cemetery, followed by a parade. The guest speaker will be Jim Thornton. Thornton is a retired USMC and US Army Veteran. He is currently employed at the local veterans administration. A chicken dinner will be hosted by the Delaware Fire Department.

• Newton Asphalt will be in the village paving on May 9-10. Cemetery Road, 1st, 2nd, Camby and Cornet are scheduled for this paving project.

• Learned that a new bulletin board has been installed at Union Cemetery with the rules and regulations.

• The next Delaware Fire Department breakfast will be held on May 14, from 8-11 a.m.

• Six calls were reported for the Delaware Fire Department for the month of April.

• Thanked John Bourne, DJ Meek and Salem Township for their assistance in completing the concrete project in front of the village hall and the work performed at the cemetery. Salem Twp. has been instrumental in being a good neighboring township when assistance is needed, which is very much appreciated.

• After hearing that the appraisal on a property located at 113 N. High has been completed, the village did not know whether they will sell the property as is with the house still standing or will raze the vacant house and sell the property. The village acquired the property in a recent forced sheriff’s sale for back taxes owed. When the property is sold, it will be done by sealed bids or auction.

UP NEXT Will meet on Wednesday, May 18, at 7 p.m., in the town hall. The schedule will revert back to the 1st and 3rd Tuesday in June.
