Portage County high school scores | April 25: Eric Geddes leads Garfield baseball to win

Garfield baseball stayed in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Grey Tier title chase with Tuesday's 3-1 win in 10 innings over host Crestview.

Eric Geddes held the Rebels to a single run over nine innings, while Vinnie Grandizio added a scoreless inning of relief for the G-Men (13-3, 6-3).

Brandyn Bogucki, Jackson Sommer, Eric Geddes and Aiden Hill had two hits apiece for Garfield, with Geddes doubling.

Field 11, Norton 3

After falling behind by two early, the Falcons rallied with a run in the second before scoring in each of Tuesday's final four innings.

Braxton Baumberger earned the complete-game victory for Field (13-3, 8-2 Metro Athletic Conference).

Drexal McAmis and Kayden Smith each tripled for the Falcons, while Grady Eader doubled and scored three runs and Caden Kolesar had a pair of singles and a pair of RBIs.

Aurora 13, Cuyahoga Falls 3

The Greenmen took the lead with four runs in the fourth and made the victory more comfortable with a six-run top of the seventh.

Andrew Eichenauer, Ben Schechterman and Sam Retton each had multiple hits for Aurora.

Kyle Hanna struck out eight and allowed just an unearned run over his six innings of work.

Streetsboro 7, Springfield 4

The Rockets jumped out to a 7-0 lead with a four-run bottom of the first and three more in the second and held on for the Metro Athletic Conference victory Tuesday.

Braden Craft and Jack Pincoe had two hits apiece for Streetsboro, with Matt Klimak and Craft both recording doubles for the home team. Craft, Klimak and Scott Wilson each scored two runs for the Rockets.

Pincoe struck out 12 while allowing just a pair of unearned runs over his five innings to get the win.

Jack Batten got five key outs in relief to seal the win.

Woodridge 11, Ravenna 0

Will Heisler had another big performance against the Ravens, with five strikeouts over three scoreless innings, as well as two hits atop the Bulldogs' lineup.

Alex Parker added a homer for Woodridge.

Logan Hysell had both hits for Ravenna Tuesday.

Warren JFK 12, Southeast 2

The Pirates grabbed a brief lead in the top of the fourth before the Eagles took control with seven in the bottom of the inning followed by a five-run fifth to walk it off.

Evan Riffle doubled and Logan Lavigna singled for Southeast's two hits of the afternoon.

Softball

McDonald 3, Waterloo 2

The Blue Devils walked it off in the bottom of the eighth in Tuesday's Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Tier contest.

Jewel Lilley struck out 12 on the mound and had a single, double and RBI at the plate for the Vikings (4-7, 3-5).

Field 18, Streetsboro 1

Maddie Burge and Olivia Dyer combined on a one-hitter for the Falcons, who also benefited from homers by McKayla Miller and Megan Schmidt.

Lilli Sutkowy and Tia Ulrich added a double and two singles apiece while Dyer singled and doubled for Field (11-2, 7-1).

Mogadore 5, Southeast 2

The Wildcats and Pirates broke a scoreless stalemate in the eighth as Mogadore scored five in the top of the inning and Southeast's rally fell a few runs shy.

Mackenzie Shellenbarger went 3-for-3 for the Wildcats while Katie Gardner and Olivia Kidd had a double apiece for Mogadore.

Gardner also scattered just two runs in eight innings in the circle, with seven strikeouts against a single walk.

Jade Whitely had two of the Pirates' five hits Tuesday while Ava Stephens tripled and Mya Sutcliffe doubled for Southeast.

Liv Bragg pitched all eight innings for the Pirates, allowing just two earned runs.

Aurora 12, Copley 2

The Greenmen remained in first place in the Suburban American with an authoritative road win Tuesday.

Ten players combined to tally 18 hits for Aurora, including three apiece from Sophie Schechterman and Rayna Unverferth. Schechterman came a homer shy of the cycle with a single, double, triple and four RBIs.

Madeline Dalessandro, Maggie McVicker, Julia Miller and Sophie Petrash also had multiple hits for the Greenmen, while McKennah Metzger struck out 10 in six innings to get the win in the circle.

Coventry 23, Ravenna 0

Morgan Decker and Whitney Holmes had a hit apiece for the Ravens.
