Portage County inspections: Mold on cover of mustard, flies in liquor bottles

The following are the latest results of Marathon County Health Department inspections on licensed food establishments and other types of businesses, which the Stevens Point Journal reports monthly.

  • Classy Cafe, 7559 State 66: July 13: No violations.

  • Kedzie's Midway Foods, 1825 Portage County K: July 13: No violations.

  • Midway Sweets, 7449 State 66: July 13: No violations.

  • Whitefeather Organics, 2239 Sky View Road: July 22: No violations.

Plover

  • King Cone, 2534 Post Road: July 29: No violations.

  • Mama Elda's, 1828 Plover Road: July 29: No violations.

  • Smiley's, 4020 Portage County R: July 6: Four violations: Sanitizer for banquet bar dish machine not used according to directions (corrected during inspection); bottom of Manitowoc freezer and two-door refrigerator dirty; cavity of door seals of microwave dirty; fan near fryers not cleaned frequently.

Stevens Point

  • Ann Teas, 2228 Madison St.: July 29: No violations.

  • Bee Yang, 625 Bliss Ave.: July 22: No violations.

  • Ebert & Gebert's, 812 Main St.: July 12: Five violations: Establishment does not have procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events; ice drop chute of soda machine in dining room dirty; shelving in upright cooler and shelving over food prep sink chipped, peeling and not maintained; interior surface of third door of the upright cooler is missing protective panel; exterior door in kitchen not in good repair and tight fitting.

  • Joe's Bar, 831 Main St.: July 27: Six violations: Mold on cover of mustard bottle in cooler (corrected during inspection); bucket of drinking ice in cooler unwrapped and uncovered; walk-in beer cooler constructed of unsealed wood; dust and mold accumulations on shelving in walk-in cooler; inside of microwave dirty; no handwashing signs at bar, men's bathroom and women's bathroom employee handwashing sinks.

  • Kitchens Brew, 3217 John Joanis Drive: July 22: No violations.

  • The Outfit, 804 Main St.: July 27: Five violations: Flies seen in three liquor bottles (corrected during inspection); dish machine sanitizer not used according to label directions (corrected during inspection); no test kit available for monitoring chlorine concentration; multiple bar stools damaged and have exposed cushions; floor behind bar sticky from spilled beverages.

  • Papa Joe's, 233 Division St.: July 12: Two violations: No test kit for monitoring sanitizer concentration; handle on right door of three-door bar refrigerator broken off.

  • Pho Ever 21, 5509 U.S. 10 E.: July 10: One violation: No certified food manager for establishment.

  • Rainbow Snow Unit No. 1, 569 Jordan Road: July 29: No violations.

  • Samoeun's Happy Wok, 3822 Bluebird Drive: July 29: No violations.

  • South Point, 3057 Church St.: July 13: No violations.

  • Top Hat Bar, 1346 Third St.: July 13: Six violations: Fruit fly in bottle of liquor (corrected during inspection); Establishment does not have procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events; ice scoop stored with handle in contact with drinking ice (corrected during inspection); walk-in cooler walls and ceiling constructed with non-sealed wood; mold growing on walls and ceiling of walk-in cooler; two boxes of single-use plastic cups stored on floor.

  • Topper's Pizza, 249 Division St.: July 11: Eight violations: Several food containers stored in pizza prep cooler missing date marks; soap not available at food employee handwashing sink in back kitchen (corrected during inspection); no current food protection manager's certificate posted in establishment; wall-mounted paper towel dispenser at employee handwashing sink not working; filter baffles missing from canopy hood system above the pizza oven in use; encrusted food accumulated on surfaces of conveyor belt and crumb tray of pizza ovens; surfaces of canopy hood system not cleaned frequently; wall and caulking behind the ware washing sinks soiled.
