Portage County inspections: Three restaurants with 7 or more violations

The following are the latest results of Portage County Health Department inspections on licensed food establishments and other types of businesses, which the Stevens Point Journal reports monthly.

Amherst Junction

  • Central Wisconsin Environmental Station, 10186 Portage County MM: Aug. 8: No violations.

Bancroft

  • DJ's Corner Bar, 15810 County Highway F: Aug. 16: One violation: ice machine splash guard dirty.

  • Vista Royalle Campground, 8025 Isherwood Road: Aug. 17: Two violations: Shelving unit for pizza ovens constructed of bare wood; air fryers not American National Standards Institute certified or approved by the health department.

Bloomer

  • Flip & Sam Concessions, 1781 State 64: Aug. 24: No violations.

Mosinee

  • Sunset Bay Grill, 1135 Portage County DB: Aug. 22: No violations.

  • Tiki Beach Bar & Grill, 1126 Portage County DB: Aug. 15: One violation: Two-door freezer door gaskets not properly adjusted, intact or tight.

Plover

  • El Molcajete Mexican Grill, 1160 Meridian Drive: Aug. 31: Eight violations: Mushrooms and cucumbers stored under box of raw shell eggs (corrected during inspection); sanitizer solution at the bar ware washing sink not used according to instructions (corrected during inspection); sanitizer for kitchen dish machine not used according to instructions (corrected during inspection); no single-use toweling at employee handwashing sink near dessert area (corrected during inspection); wiping cloth used for wiping surfaces stored on side of buckets (corrected during inspection); taco shells stored on cloth towel behind hot line in kitchen (corrected during inspection; a few clean utensils being towel dried by employees (corrected during inspection); several faucets leaking and area not in good repair.

  • Section 715 Throwing Co., 3248 Mecca Drive: Aug. 17: No violations.

Stevens Point

  • Baymont, 247 N. Division St.: Aug. 28: Nine violations: No thermometer for monitoring temperatures in foods; test kit for checking sanitizer concentration is expired; spray bottle of sanitizer not labeled; no certified food manager for establishment; homestyle oven is not American National Standards Institute certified or approved by the health department; homestyle air fryer not ANSI certified or approved by health department; countertops and shelving in kitchen dirty; breakfast bar kitchen also used for cooking and storing personal food items by resident managers and employees; flooring in kitchen dirty.

  • Bullheads Bar & Grill, 3368 N. Campsite Drive: Aug. 9: Three violations: Sanitizer at bar dish machine not used according to label instructions (corrected during inspection); consumer advisory is missing disclosure statement; cutting boards on main line and pizza line excessively scored and holding stains.

  • Chef's Kitchen, 924 Clark St.: Aug. 16: Three violations: Employee handling ready-to-eat food with bare hands; wall behind spray arm at dish machine no longer smooth and easily cleanable; ceiling vent and adjacent ceiling surfaces in kitchen dirty.

  • Derrie's Foodworks, 705 W. River Drive: Aug. 23: No violations.

  • Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, 5110 Main St.: Aug. 31: One violation: No approved certified food manager for establishment.

  • Holiday Inn Express, 1100 Amber Ave.: Aug. 15: Three violations: Chlorine not used according to label instructions; no certified food manager for establishment; no handwashing signs at employee handwashing sink in kitchen.

  • The Hub, 1324 Second St.: Aug. 3: Seven violations: Dish sanitizer not used according to label instructions; no procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events; no test kit for monitoring sanitizer concentration; rear interior of ice machine dirty; no handwashing sign by men's toilet room handwashing sink; standing water on floor near walk-in cooler door; establishment has not renewed license from the health department. Re-inspection Aug. 11: Five violations: Cut lemons and limes prepared in private home; no procedure for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events; no test kit for monitoring sanitizer concentrations; rear interior of ice machine dirty; establishment has not yet renewed license from health department.

  • Kentucky Fried Chicken, 327 N. Division St.: Aug. 30: Two violations: No procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events; flooring under cook dirty.

  • The 13th Floor Canteen, 1109 Park St.: Aug. 17: Two violations: Ice scoop stored with handle in contact with ice (corrected during inspection); no handwashing signs provided at toilet room handwashing sinks.

  • Wicked Willow, 1137 Main St.: Aug. 10: No violations.

  • Wisconsin River Golf Club 705 W. River Drive: Aug. 23: No violations.
