Porter, Maxwell combine to win Xtreme Bass State Championship

Michael Porter and Chris Maxwell had 40.19 pounds to win the Xtreme Bass Series State Championship tournament on Nov. 4-5 on Lake Okeechobee. Blake Briscoe and Brad Briscoe took second place with 36.86 pounds. Rodney Hunter and Steve Griffing took third place with 36.39 pounds. John Stambaugh and Jim Elsessor had Day One big bass with a 7.71-pounder. Tony Bartels and Tom Burke had Day Two big bass with a 10-pounder.

Wayne Yohn and Walter Owens had 25.43 pounds to win first place in the Lake Wales Breakfast Rotary Club 19th annual Reel ‘Em in For Rotary Charity Bass Tournament on Nov. 5 at Lake Kissimmee. Larry Meredith and Lance Meredith were second with 22.99 pounds and also had big bass with a 7.75-pounder. Richie Upchurch and Lamar Farrow were third with 20.03 pounds.

Aaron Flint and Tina Flint had 16.88 pounds to win first place during the Florida Bass Club Survivor Series tournament on Nov. 5 on Lake Istokpoga. Alan Ramsey and Nicholas Fersa took second place with 15.95 pounds. John Sabatini was third with 13.11 pounds and also had big bass with a 5.48-pounder.

Bill Barlow had 9 pounds, 2 ounces to win the Lone Fishing Club tournament on May 7 at Lake Walk-in-the-Water. Jerry Davis took second place with 5 pounds, 9 ounces. Bill Barlow had big bass with a 3-pound, 4-ounce fish.

Steve Hunt had 30.83 pounds and also big bass with a 6.06-pounder to win the Winter Haven Lunker Lovers’ season-ending classic tournament on Nov. 5-6 on the Kissimmee Chain. David Glenn was second with 29.90 pounds. Jim Blume was third with 25.98 pounds. Tanner Scarborough was fourth with 25.56 pounds.

Shorty Carter and Daulton Desalvo had 18.2 pounds to win the Happy Hookers Bass Club tournament on Nov. 5 on the Winter Haven North Chain. Steve Green and Zack Bach took second place with 12.4 pounds. Jay Copeland and Josh Long placed third with 12.2 pounds. Shorty Carter took big bass with a 6.2-pounder.

Mike Carroll and Jeff Jones had 29.47 pounds to win the Freedom Bass Anglers season-ending classic tournament on Nov. 5-6 at Lake Istokpoga. Kevin Blevins and Charles Walker were second with 18.82 pounds. Mike Carroll took big bass with a 6.38-pounder.

Mike Leggett had 15.72 pounds to win the Lakeland Bassmasters’ Draw Trail season-ending classic tournament on Nov. 6 on the Winter Haven South Chain. Pat Landaiche took second place with 15.26 pounds. Kenny Trimble placed third with 14.17 pounds.

Upcoming Tournaments

The next Kissimmee Bass Series Seniors tournament is on Nov. 11 on the Kissimmee Chain out of Camp Lester. Anglers must be at least 50 years old and may fish as a team or solo. The next Catch'em Crappie tournament, held by Hoppy’s Marine, is on Nov. 12 on the Kissimmee Chain out of Port Hatchineha. Time is safe light to noon. Up to four anglers per boat with a $60 fee per boat, plus $5 ramp fee. Heaviest six fish go toward place prizes and big fish. The next Fishing Misfits tournament is on Nov. 12 on Lake Fannie. This tournament is for members only. No boats allowed over 115 horsepower and no pro anglers or guides are permitted. Time is safe light to 1 p.m. Raffles will be held. Food and beverages will also be for sale. Proceeds will go to benefit the family of Deputy Lane. Anglers must fish as teams of four in two separate boats. Each angler is asked to please bring a new unwrapped toy for donation.
