Porter, Sander lead way as Tusc gymnasts bring home medals
Tuscarawas County YMCA Gymnastics Team brought home 23 medals recently from the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships and Invitationals held at the Class City Center in Toledo.
The meet included 62 teams in Levels 2 through 10 and all Excel Levels. The local Y team took 21 girls in Level 3, 4 and 6.
The Level 6 optional team finished in eighth place overall.
Layla Porter took first on vault to become the Level 3 national champion and Aria Sanner took first on floor to become the Level 3 national champion.
Alonna Allan, an Indian Valley middle school student, finished as a Level 6 national champion for the Cambridge YMCA.
She had finishes of first on floor, bars and overall, and second on vault and fourth on beam.
