Porterville's Andrew Moody earns 2023 All-EYL MVP basketball award

Porterville High School's Andrew Moody brought home the East Yosemite League's top award after leading the Panthers boys' basketball team to an outright conference championship during the 2022-23 season.

The league's respective coaches named Moody the 2023 All-East Yosemite League's most valuable player. Under Moody's outstanding play, the Panthers won an absolute EYL title this season with an 8-2 record.

Moody, a senior guard, also helped the Panthers advance to the 2023 Central Section Division II title game this season.

Porterville's Erik Odsather headlined the All-EYL first team. Other first-team honorees included Israel Briggs (Mt. Whitney), Jagar Brooks (Golden West), Dominic Pineda (Mt. Whitney), Santana Guijarro (El Diamante), Cooper Schimpf (El Diamante) and Brandan Garcia (Monache).

Monache's Alisha Verdejo is the 2023 All-EYL MVP

Monache's Alisha Verdejo was selected by the league's girls basketball coaches as the 2023 All-EYL's most valuable player.

Verdejo helped direct the Marauders to an outright EYL championship this year with a 9-1 record. She averaged over 15 points and five rebounds per game during league competition.

His peers selected Monache's Jonathon Bartlett as the EYL coach of the year. He guided the Marauders to a 26-4 overall record this season.

The Marauders also had two players picked to the All-EYL first team Kyah Bartlett and Milly Rojas. Rounding out this season's All-EYL first-team selections were Andrea Perez (Porterville), Aryel Chavez (Redwood), Danae Banuelos (Golden West), Reyna Soto (El Diamante), and Teyanna Burrell (Golden West).
