GRAND RAPIDS – A portion of Lake Wazeecha will be closed to the public from 6 a.m. July 21 to 9 p.m. July 24 for the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Tournament.

The tournament takes place the third full weekend of July every summer at Red Sands Beach on Lake Wazeecha in Grand Rapids. The tournament starts at 6:40 a.m. each morning. The Barefoot competition takes place on July 21.

The closed area affects water east of a line from the 54th Street South boat landing north to the north shore, and all water area east to the 80th Street South bridge, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department. The area is marked with signs.

No recreational use of the area, including boating, swimming, scuba diving, recreational wading, fishing and water skiing is allowed during the time of the closure. Anyone with questions should contact Police Chief Melvin Pederson at the Grand Rapids Police Department at 715-424-1821.
