A portion of Lexington’s Lake Murray Dam will close for annual dinner. Here’s when
Have you ever wanted to eat dinner on the top of a dam? Well, you’re about to have your chance.
The Lexington Chamber announced that the Dining On The Dam event will return from 5 to 9 p.m. April 2. As many as 1,200 people are expected to attend the annual sunset dinner that takes place on the top section of the dam, which offers sweeping, scenic, big water views of the lake that has been referred to as the “Jewel of South Carolina.”
“This event is unlike any other in the Midlands,” Lexington Chamber CEO Angelle LaBorde said in a statement. “Dining On The Dam offers a unique atmosphere for people to mix and mingle while enjoying an unforgettable evening full of food, live entertainment, and views of the sunset from the Lake Murray Dam.”
There will be a traffic shift on the day of the event. The top portion of the dam and its walkway will be closed to vehicular and foot traffic from 7 a.m. to midnight on April 2. Traffic that day will be directed to the lower part of the dam.
Officials said limited tickets remain for Dining On The Dam, with more information available at diningonthedamsc.com. According to the website, the event is for people age 21 and up, and tickets are $150. That will include a catered meal from Southern Way Catering, an open bar with cocktails, beer, wine and other beverages, and live music by The Hitmen, all as the sun sets over the lake.
The Chamber said in a release that parking for the event will be on both sides of the dam in the Dominion Energy public parks and at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. Parking lots will open at 4:15 p.m. on April 2, and shuttles will take diners from those parking lots to the entrance of the event starting at 4:45 p.m.
