Section of Pacific Coast Highway closed in Malibu due to mudslide
A mudslide forced the closure of a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu early Wednesday morning, according to officials.
The roadway was closed for three-quarters of a mile between Corral Canyon and Latigo Canyon roads.
Malibu Public Safety Commissioner Chris Frost told KTLA 5’s Carlos Herrera that the closure was due to safety reasons after a mudslide occurred on the side of the road in the early morning hours. Officials couldn’t inspect the hill as the soils remained saturated from rainfall.

There was no estimated time for reopening as of noon.
Nearby Malibu Canyon Road was also shut down after a mudslide near Piuma Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The road was expected to be closed for the remainder of the day.
Due to the road closures near the Malibu campus, Pepperdine University canceled all in-person classes on Wednesday, the university said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
