SHEBOYGAN - Broadway Avenue, between South Seventh and South 14th streets in Sheboygan, will be closed to through traffic starting March 20.
The closure is for a reconstruction project that includes new sanitary and storm sewer, new crosswalks, and a new asphalt road surface.
The work on Broadway Avenue is scheduled to be completed in October.
The intersection of South Seventh Street and Broadway Avenue will close March 22, according to the city, with a detour posted using High Avenue, South Eighth Street and Georgia Avenue.
All work and traffic impacts are weather-dependent and subject to change, the city added.

▶ Sheboygan Lutheran seniors score highest possible scores on ACT: Two Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School seniors, Andrew Dirkse and Caden Solle, recently earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36.
About one-quarter of 1% of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2022, only 3,376 out of 1.34 million students who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36.
Dirkse, son of Paul and Patty Dirkse, is deliberating his final college selection with plans to pursue a career in neurology. During his time at Lutheran, Dirkse participated in National Honor Society, student council and Drama Club. He utilized his musical talents as a section leader and conductor for Sheboygan Lutheran’s Chamber Choir, as a pianist for Lutheran High’s jazz band and as a participant in Lakeshore Youth Chorale and Sheboygan Symphony Chorus. He was elected to the Big East Honors Choir three consecutive years and took part in the Wisconsin State Music Association State Honors Music Project in 2022.
Solle, son of Tom and Carla Solle, will be attending Liberty University to study mechanical engineering. During his high school career, Solle was president of National Honor Society and involved in Interact Club and student council. He was captain of the school’s co-op soccer team, which made a state championship appearance two consecutive years, and he received All-Conference and Pacesetter awards. Solle also led the Lutheran High golf team with a First-Team All-Conference nomination and Pacesetter award. As a saxophonist, Solle was section lead for Lutheran High’s jazz and symphonic bands and participated in the Big East Honors Band and Wisconsin State Honors Band.
The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each scored on a scale of 1-36. A student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores. This curriculum-based achievement exam measures what students have learned in school. Students who earn a 36 composite score have likely mastered all the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in first-year college coursework in the core subject areas.
▶ Historical Research Center to host genealogy research workshop: Explore your family history and learn the basics of genealogy research at an engaging workshop, “Understanding DNA 101-Part II,” hosted by the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center April 21.
The program runs 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Plymouth Arts Center, 520 E. Mill St., Plymouth.
Cost is $15 per person. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 920-467-4667. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
Presenter Dana Kelly, executive director of the Norwegian American Genealogical Center & Naeseth Library, will help participants navigate DNA data and provide information about the key aspects of using DNA results to find more about family history.
This is a follow-up to a class held last fall. Topics include “X, Y, mtDNA & Chromosomes”; “Triangulation, Clusters & Confounding Factors”; “Surprises, Secrets & Ethics”; and “Company & Test Comparisons.”

March 31, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Elkhart Lake High School, 201 Lincoln St., Elkhart Lake;
April 11, 12:30-5:30 p.m. at Faith Reformed Church, 243 S. Fourth St., Cedar Grove;
April 13, noon-5 p.m. at Ladewig Zinkgraf American Legion Post 243, 40 S. Stafford St., Plymouth; and
April 14, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Kohler High School, 333 Upper Road, Kohler.
