Portland’s classic rock station 92.3 KGON celebrates 50 years

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland’s classic rock station 92.3 KGON turned 50 years old on Thursday, Feb. 1.

With this milestone, 92.3 KGON joins 99.9 KISW in Seattle as one of the few legendary rock stations nationwide to hit the half-century mark.

Since airing for the first time with The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” in 1974, the radio station has become one of the most listened to rock stations in the Portland area and they are inviting fans to join the celebration.
