Portland man sentenced to federal prison for armed robbery of marijuana grower

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland man was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday for his involvement in an armed robbery targeting a southern Oregon marijuana grower.

35-year-old Kenan Dizdarevic was sentenced to 107 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay restitution to his victims.

Court documents allege Dizdarevic and another person entered a home located on a marijuana farm in Eagle Point, Oregon.

Described as wearing dark clothing, gloves, body armor, ski masks and armed with multiple firearms, Dizdarevic and his accomplice allegedly shouted, “Police search warrant,” before handcuffing and placing the two people found inside facedown on the floor.

The document says they then demanded money and guns from the two victims, eventually stealing more than 30 pounds of marijuana and escaping in one of the victim’s vehicles.

Officers soon found the stolen vehicle traveling with another car on I-5 and began a speedy, lengthy pursuit, crossing over three counties. Those in the stolen car were able to evade officers. The second car was disabled by a spike strip in Douglas County, but the driver was able to escape on foot.

Officials executed a search warrant on the second car, finding ski masks, zip ties, handcuffs, tactical vests and multiple firearms. Investigators also found Dizdarevic’s fingerprints, DNA and various personal belongings.

In February 2021, Dizdarevic was charged with interfering with commerce by robbery, conspiring with others to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance and using, carrying, or brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

He was arrested in June 2022 and plead guilty in August 2023 to the first two charges.

10 individuals, including Dizdarevic, were charged and have pled guilty for their roles in related robberies. Dizdarevic is the eighth defendant to be sentenced and the final two are pending sentencing, authorities say.

This case was investigated by the ATF and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, Oregon State Police, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and Medford Police Department.
