Portland’s Voodoo Doughnut kicks off plans to open first ever Seattle location

A beloved Portland fixture looks to be headed to the Emerald City, with Voodoo Doughnut planning a new location in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Voodoo made the announcement official on Tuesday, after filing a building permit with the city for a location at 1201 Pine Street.

“We’re thrilled to finally bring some Voodoo Magic to Seattle,” said Voodoo Doughnut CEO Chris Schultz said. “It’s been many years in the making and the Capitol Hill neighborhood is the perfect site for our first store.”

According to the permit, construction would cost up to $500,000. It would fill a space currently occupied by a pho restaurant.

Voodoo Doughnut first opened in Portland in 2003. Since then, it’s expanded to several other states, including Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Illinois, Florida, and California.

Voodoo actually opened its first Washington state location in Vancouver in 2022.

More details on the opening date are expected sometime in the next few months.
