Should Taunton school be renamed after war hero?

The Taunton Area Vietnam Veterans Association has put a proposal forth before the Taunton School Committee, for the name of East Taunton Elementary School to be changed so that the school is renamed for fallen war hero Raymond LaPointe.

From East Taunton, he was killed by North Vietnamese fire on Sept. 10, 1967, during the Vietnam War. He was only 19 years old when he died.

Spring sports are about to be in full swing.

This week, Taunton High and Dighton-Rehoboth softball faced off in a scrimmage.

Taunton funeral home gets creative, making 'calming videos' for grieving families

"It's like a prayer card that has a particular theme."

That's how Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home Director William Hathaway III described the "calming videos" that grieving families can now view at the Taunton funeral parlor.

They've produced several different kinds, that families can choose to have on display behind a loved one's casket or urn.

So far, Hathaway said, people have been responding favorably to the pilot program.

Brand new Berkley town admin heads for the door just weeks after 2 selectmen quit

There was another shake-up for Berkley, with new Town Administrator Mark Stankiewicz announcing his resignation six weeks after starting on the job and less than a month after two selectmen tendered their resignations as of the May town election.

His resignation is effective April 22.

Nearly all new people will be in charge in the select board/town administrator's office in the very near future.
