‘Pose’ Star Indya Moore Celebrates New Role in DC’s ‘Aquaman’ Sequel

Fresh off of a star-making stint on Pose, Indya Moore is set to sink their teeth into a new role in the upcoming DC movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Moore is set to play Karshon, a mutant shark with telepathic and telekinetic powers they developed after being exposed to radiation, natch.

While Karshon has been known to tangle with Aquaman in DC’s comics, they were first introduced as a villain in Green Lantern, Volume 2, issue 24 back in October 1963, where they were originally just known as “the shark.”

The story goes that Karshon started out as a normal shark until a nearby radioactive explosion caused them to mutate. As the comics went on, the character evolved and became a tiger shark who was able to also take on the humanoid form of an Atlantean named Karshon. This means chances are we’re going to get to see Moore on screen, and they won’t just be voicing the character a la Sylvester Stallone as King Shark in The Suicide Squad.

Moore shared their excitement with an Instagram post with a photo of the news story and various mysterious nature photos. “Soooo excited, sooo grateful. This is going to be good. Thank you for welcoming me,” they wrote.

While no official synopsis has been released for the Aquaman sequel, the cast is coming together for the much-anticipated return to Atlantis (read: an opportunity to gawk at a shirtless protector of the deep). Among the returning cast is Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, and Yahya Abdul Mateen II as Black Mantis. Joining the project are Jani Zhao as Stingray and Vincent Regan as Atlan, the ancient ruler of Atlantis.

The sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2022. In the meantime, fans can speculate on what underwater shenanigans Moore’s Karshon will get up to. Whatever it is, will likely earn them a league of new fins, er, fans.
