Homicide detectives with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department are investigating an apparent murder-suicide.

MNPD said officers were called to a room at the DoubleTree Hotel on Fourth Avenue North Monday afternoon after a man and woman were discovered dead by hotel staff about 2:30 p.m. They were later identified as Irene Bond, 45, and Geremy Causey, 31, both of Shelby County. Police believe they were boyfriend and girlfriend.

Key card access information showed the hotel key was last used on their room about 3 a.m. Sunday, about 36 hours before they were discovered.

Causey was found with a pistol at his side and "had injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound," MNPD said late Monday night in a news release. Bond was found dead nearby with a gunshot wound.
