Possible threat leads to increased security measures at Jeffersonville High School

Jeffersonville High School is increasing security after staff found a threat written inside a bathroom stall at the school Tuesday.

The school resource officer was made aware of the threat and then, alongside school officials, "immediately filed a report" that led to an investigation, said Jeffersonville Police Department Major Isaac Parker in an early morning release Tuesday.

The police department and Clark County administrators have been "working together to ensure the safety of JHS students," Parker said.

Officials did not specify what kind of threat was written but said there was "no indication the threat is valid," the release said. The extra police presence is "out of an abundance of caution."

"Parents, please speak to your children about the severity of making such a threat," Parker said. "We recognize no community is immune to such a tragedy and the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office has expressed their intent to prosecute any individual who makes such a threat."
