Possible tornado reported Friday in southern Sebastian County, Arkansas

An outbreak of tornadic November weather moved from Le Flore County Oklahoma Friday across Sebastian, Logan and Johnson counties.

Unstable, warmer air ahead of a cold front lead to a number of watches and warnings across the River Valley Friday.

Northeastern Sebastian County was under a tornado warning Friday night until 7:45 p.m. after reports of damage in southern parts of the county. Southwest Franklin County was also in the path of rotation.

A possible tornado moved through the Mansfield area in southern Sebastian County about 7 p.m. Friday night, according to TV reports. There were reports of trees being down near State Highway 96 where tornadic rotation was rain-wrapped.

By 8 p.m. debris was reported between Denning, Altus and Clarksville, and moved across Interstate 40 in Johnson County.

Heavy rain caused streets to flood near Arkoma. Fort Smith Police warned drivers to stay out of any high water.

Mansfield is located about 26 miles south of Fort Smith.

TV reports showed a path of rotation that went through the west side of Mansfield and west side of Huntington about 7 p.m.

A number of tornadic flare-ups were reported about 7:15 p.m. in storms moving about 60 mph to the northeast.

Temperatures were expected

At 5 p.m. Friday a tornado warning had been issued for Sequoyah County, Oklahoma bordering Sebastian County, the National Weather Service reported.

A tornado touched down in southwest Le Flore County, according to TV reports.

Fort Smith was included in a severe thunderstorm warning at 6:20 p.m.

The warning was issued until 5:30 p.m. for northeastern Le Flore and southeastern Sequoyah counties in Oklahoma.

The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville homecoming events Friday were canceled due to the threat of severe weather Friday night. Football games in the Fort Smith area were moved to Thursday night.
