The Post-Crescent has a new Buzz reporter

The Fox Cities has long been the place where I hang my hat. I've spent endless hours drinking coffee with friends at Copper Rock on College Avenue, afternoons wandering the Fox River Mall looking for the perfect gift or impulse buy, and nights eating way too much popcorn at the Marcus Valley Grand Cinema. As an Appleton native, I'm beyond excited to be taking over as The Buzz reporter and seeing the businesses that have made up my life in a new light and learn their stories.

The Buzz has been a source of local business coverage for the last two decades, sharing the stories of businesses big and small in the Fox Cities. From openings and closings to renovations and new owners, The Buzz has answered readers' questions about what's happening in their community.

As the new Buzz reporter, I plan to keep up all of the great reporting that has come to define the beat at The Post-Crescent. I'll also be taking over The Buzz newsletter, an email newsletter that discusses and compiles recent Buzz content so you never miss a story. You can subscribe to the newsletter here.

Most recently, I worked as the Streetwise reporter for the Green Bay Press-Gazette, covering similar topics as The Buzz. I spent two years learning about Brown County and the businesses in the Green Bay area. I fell in love with telling the stories of local haunts, from learning the history of the 73-year-old supper club Wally's Spot to describing the passion behind the opening of Generations Vaquero Shop.

Before working for the Press-Gazette, I attended Marquette University, where I received a bachelor's degree in journalism, and interned for the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service. I also wrote for the Virginian Pilot as part of the O'Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism.

Looking ahead, The Buzz will look mostly the same and you can expect to see lots of local coverage. I also encourage you to continue sending in tips and questions because, ultimately, The Buzz is about telling readers what they want to know. You can reach me via email at abursiekkloehn@gannett.com or by phone at 920-427-5562.

The only change readers can expect is I won't be doing all the reporting alone. You'll also see posts from Rebecca Loroff, a breaking and trending news reporter for USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin, who has been writing for The Buzz for the last two months. Rebecca will be contributing to the section when needed to make sure we're always providing answers in a timely fashion, and she's happy to receive any business tips to her email at rloroff@gannett.com.

If you're interested in having access to all Buzz content, I recommend purchasing a digital subscription to The Post-Crescent. Your subscription gives you full access to our online content and supports local journalism so Rebecca and I, and many more reporters, can provide you with great coverage.
