Post offices, stores & banks. Here’s what’s open and closed on MLK Day in Macon

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, Jan. 15, a federal holiday in observance of the slain civil rights leader, who would be 95 this year.

As we remember his legacy, here are some businesses and public institutions that are open and closed Monday:

Is the post office open on MLK Day in Macon?

The U.S. Postal Service will be closed on MLK Day and no mail will be delivered.

Are banks open on MLK Day?

Banks, including Bank of America, Chase, CitiBank, Wells Fargo, will be closed on Monday. Local branches may also be closed.

As usual, online/mobile banking will still be available.

Will government buildings and schools be closed?

All state and city offices will be closed on Monday. This includes courthouses, city halls and public libraries.

Bibb County School District schools will be closed for the holiday as well as The Academy for Classical Education (ACE) in Macon.

What about Macon grocery stores, restaurants and retail?

Grocery stores like Publix, Walmart, Kroger and ALDI will be open on MLK Day during regular operating hours. Most restaurants and retail stores will also be open for regular business hours.
