Man arrested in Hartford postal worker stabbing; motive unknown, police say

A 21-year-old has been arrested in the stabbing of a U.S. postal worker in Hartford Monday afternoon, police said.

Malique Jackson was charged with first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon and breach of peace, they said Tuesday.

The stabbing happened shortly before 1:45 p.m. in the area of 78 West Morningside St. near the Bloomfield line. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in his 50s, suffering from a stab wound to the shoulder that was not life-threatening, police said.

A West Hartford K-9 officer who responded to help found Jackson, police said. He was detained for questioning and later arrested.

Police said Tuesday that they still don’t know the motive for the stabbing.
