Postal delivery of the Rockford Register Star arrives Monday

Sunday will mark the Rockford Register Star's last day of home delivery, and Monday will mark the first day of the newspaper's venture into delivery via U.S. Postal Service.

I would like to thank our loyal print readers for their patience as we navigate this shift.

Our hope is that this change will bring about greater consistency in the delivery of our print product, something we know our print customers will appreciate.

Here's a recap.

  • Starting Monday, print subscribers will receive the Rockford Register Star with their daily mail delivery. Most subscribers will receive the paper the same day the paper comes out. Sunday's newspaper will be delivered with Saturday's mail.

  • Rockford Register Star newspapers will continue to be sold six-days-a-week at area gas stations and grocery stores, arriving to those locations in the early morning hours, just as they do today.

  • Print readers will continue to have free access to the Register Star website at rrstar.com and the Register Star eNewspaper at rrstar.com/enewspaper as part of their subscriptions.

In the end, we are hoping that this change brings our traditional print readers greater customer satisfaction.

We believe now is the right time to make this change.

A number of economic and workforce factors have created ongoing challenges to newspaper delivery.

As each year passes, more and more of our readers are connecting with our stories in ways other than the print newspaper, and our goal continues to be reaching our readers in a variety of ways.

We know this shift will affect our morning newspaper readers the most. We urge you to try connecting with us in other ways.

Our eNewspaper, a digital version of the print product, will be available each morning and will increasingly feature bonus content not available in print.

And, just as before, your subscription gives you universal access to eNewspapers across Gannett, including USA TODAY, as well as unlimited access to the USA TODAY Crossword digital app and site.

Our mostly timely news and information always will be found at rrstar.com, and your subscription will continue to provide you will full access to the website and an early morning newsletter delivered via email to let you know about our latest stories.

The Rockford Register Star and its predecessors, The Register Republic and Morning Star, have a collective history that dates back to 1855.

The news industry has evolved many times since then, and will continue to evolve as new technologies bring about change.

Through all of these changes, we remain steadfastly committed to local journalism and our readers, and we wish to thank you for your support and putting your trust in us to cover all facets of our community.

If you have any questions about this change or need assistance accessing the eNewspaper, please contact our customer service department at 1-888-478-5066.
