Postal history

The Lucerne Valley Post Office was established in 1912 at the ranch of John and Rosa Koehly, who came to the area in 1909, according to historian Ethel Owen

The post office was located on the southeast corner of Rabbit Springs Road and Post Office Road. Rosa Koehly was the first Postmaster.

In 1935, the post office moved to a one-room building on Highway 18, west of the Box S ranch, with Ed Smith as postmaster.

The post office moved and shared the Clark Building with John Hutson's and Irving Seeberg's Hardware store, which is now the China House at 32716 Highway 18. The post office would eventually move to its current location at 10418 Highland Avenue in Lucerne Valley.
