This Poughkeepsie trampoline park is expanding. What you'll find at its new location

Bounce, a sports and entertainment center, has moved into a new, expanded location at the Poughkeepsie Galleria.

Taking over what used to be the second floor of JC Penney, with 85,000 square feet of space, the facility is taking on a new life with fresh attractions for people of all ages.

After 10 years, Bounce has outgrown its original 30,000-square-foot Neptune Road location. AJ Deacon, general manager of Bounce and a Town of Poughkeepsie resident, said they also want to expand their demographic, which was topping out at around 12 years old.

Bill Merrill, general managing partner at Bounce and Ulster County resident in Hurley, said they came to an agreement with the Poughkeepsie Galleria in the first half of 2023 and immediately started construction on the new facility, which opens at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

What Bounce at the Poughkeepsie Galleria has to offer

Almost tripling the size of their original facility, Merrill said there will be two sections to explore.

The first section will include what Bounce has come to be known for, trampolines. They have expanded extensively on what they call their "soft play area" for kids. They'll have three dedicated areas of play for younger children.

Deacon said feedback from the previous facility included customers wanting more to do, along with a better separation of age groups, "so little kids can be little kids and big kids can be big kids," he said.

One section of the soft play area is for children 4 to 12 years old, another is for children 3 and under and the last, including foam pits, is for children 5 and under.

For anyone else looking to bounce, they've also included a larger version of the main trampoline court they had at the former facility, along with dodgeball and three basketball lanes. A new addition of a glide rail also accompanies the trampoline section.

What's more, the new location will have their "Bounce Extreme" area, but will now be more like what you see on the TV series "American Ninja Warrior." For instance, they'll have three lanes of warped wall, with an adult-friendly slide to come down.

Pickleball, laser tag, mini golf, roller skating at Bounce

The other side of the facility will house new Bounce attractions.

Five pickleball courts will be available in this part of the facility during the day, including "one professional grade pickleball court surface for the real avid player," Merrill said.

At night, the pickleball courts will be transformed into a roller skating rink. One pickleball court will always be available to play on in the evenings, but skating is set to be one of the main evening attractions. You can bring your own roller skates and blades or rentals of both will be available. The surface of the rink is multi-purpose, so they hope to use it for cornhole and badminton too.

They've also implemented a learn-to-skate rink, with padded walls and rubber flooring for those who are looking to take on a new experience.

"This is really an opportunity for kids to learn in a safe environment," Deacon said.

You'll also be able to try your hand at black light laser tag, with 5,000 square feet of room to play in.

As well, they've expanded their arcade to include 30 games, integrating modern systems and some of the classics.

Merrill said one of the main attractions in the facility is the new black light mini golf course. There are two themed nine-hole courses to choose from, including a pirate theme and sports theme, and every element is black light reactive.

There will also be an adult lounge at Bounce, and Merrill said they are working toward getting a beer and wine license. There is still construction to be done on the lounge. It will open after the rest of the facility and will include golf simulators.

There will be a snack bar area for families to relax in, Merrill said.

Parties and celebrations from kids' birthday parties to team building and corporate events are available for booking. Bounce has eight party rooms in its new space, each with its own TV.

When Bounce is open

Bounce is open 4-8 p.m. Thursday; 3-10 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

"There's been a lot of excitement in the community," Merrill said.

At the previous location, they were drawing people in from about a 20-mile radius, Merrill said, and they're now expecting people to come from 50 to 60 miles away.

If you're interested in working at Bounce, they're looking for energetic, outgoing and fun individuals, who enjoy working with kids. Jobs are available for anyone 15 and older.

"We love being a first-time job for people," Deacon said. "We love being able to coach, mentor and help them develop."

Merrill said there's something for everyone at Bounce and gives the whole family an opportunity to have a fun day.
