Poulsbo man flown to Harborview Medical Center following crash on Highway 305

A 50-year-old Poulsbo man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following a crash Friday night on Highway 305 near Johnson Way in Poulsbo, according to the Washington State Patrol.

According to a memo released by the State Patrol, a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 36-year-old Bainbridge Island woman was heading south on Highway 305 near Johnson and approaching the construction zone where work on a roundabout is underway just before 11:30 p.m. The vehicle "failed to negotiate a slight curve to the right" and crossed the centerline, hitting a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by the Poulsbo man that was headed northbound.

The 36-year-old driver of the Jetta was investigated for driving under the influence and suspicion of vehicular assault and booked into the Kitsap County Jail. It was unknown if the driver of the Cavalier was wearing a seatbelt, according to the State Patrol.

The roadway was blocked until 3:45 a.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.
