Pound of meth seized, two arrested during traffic stop

HARFORD TOWNSHIP, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— State police say they have two men in custody after seizing a pound of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Susquehanna County.

Around 2:30 p.m. on March 21, state police say they pulled over a Mercedes-Benz for traffic violations near mile marker 213 on Interstate 81 North in Harford Township.

Troopers state they recognized “indicators of criminal activity” and requested to search the vehicle. The occupants, identified as 32-year-old Dashawn Brown, of Allentown, and 34-year-old Rashaad Leckey, of Ithaca, New York, denied the search.

Authorities called in a PSP K9, and the K9 indicated a positive alert for drugs during the exterior search.

Investigators say they obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and seized around 470 grams (1.04 pounds) of suspected methamphetamine under the passenger seat.

Brown and Leckey were charged with possession with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and other drug-related charges.

Brown was released on $100,000 bail. Leckey remains in the Susquehanna Country Correctional Facility in place of $100,000 bail. Both men are set to be back in court Tuesday.
