Pour Farm Tavern to host Trillium Fest 2023. What you need to know about the event

NEW BEDFORD – Pour Farm Tavern is stepping out of the bar and into Wings Court to host a beer party in conjunction with Trillium Brewery on June 3.

"We want to have a nice day outside so people can actually come and feel like they're at a party not in a bar,” said Brad Cardoza, co-owner of the pub on Purchase Street.

Located at 780 Purchase St., Trillium Fest 2023 will take over Wings Court, the urban oasis linking Union Street, Purchase Street and Custom House Square behind Pour Farm Tavern. In addition to brews, Trillium Fest 2023 will also have a live mural installation by local artist Ryan McFee, owner of Paradise McFee studio in downtown New Bedford, as well as live music by Brian and The Cassettes led by Berkley Professor Brian Cass.

And this outdoor party will hopefully be the start of many to come as Pour Farm Tavern owners recently got approval to expand their outdoor patio into the Wings Court area.

What is Trillium Fest 2023?

Aside from Pour Farms already rotating draft lines available, Pour Farm will feature six Trillium draft lines including Trillum’s Fort Point Pale Ale, DDH Trailside IPA, Summer Street IPA, Insert Hip Hop Reference, There Triple IPA and Trillium Pilsner during the event.

According to Cardoza, Trillium is currently one of the top breweries in the world and is owned and operated by Jean-Claude Tetreault, a New Bedford High School ‘94 graduate.

“Brad and Jen reflect so much of Trillium's passions and values around the community and hospitality in what they've built at Pour Farm,” said Trillium’s owner Tetreault about the owners of Pour Farm Tavern.

“We are just so happy to run our second Trillium event there. They really take the time and care to ensure our beer is poured in the best possible condition to their guests, it's all a brewer could ever hope for.”

According to the Trillium website, Trillium opened in March of 2013, by Tetreault and his wife Esther Tetreault with the desire to create a lifestyle and experience through the lens of a modern New England farmhouse-inspired brewery.

Launched with three employees and the support of family, friends and community, the little brewery located on Congress Street in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood has grown to a team of more than 300.

Planning more parties in Wings Court

Since 2008, Pour Farm Tavern has been "pouring" craft beers from its 24 taps. In March 2022, Cardoza and his wife Jen took over when the original owner, Craig Ribeiro, retired.

Cardoza said they like to feature exclusive beers that guests can’t find anywhere else on the SouthCoast. Thus, he hopes to attract Trillium fans to New Bedford.

"We're trying to provide the best events in New Bedford that basically really haven't been done before,” said Brad Cardoza.

Earlier this week, Pour Farm Tavern got approval to expand their outdoor patio area into the Wings Court area. They hope to continue utilizing the fenced area between Acushnet Avenue and Purchase Street to host more “brewer party” events.

"We just want it to be more than just people coming in, we want to have entertainment for them whenever we can,” said Jen Cardoza.
