Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival celebrates a decade in Exeter
EXETER — The 10th annual Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival drew a large crowd Saturday.
The threat of rain hovering in the air didn't seem to discourage anyone.
"We brought chili back this year and people are really happy about that," said Jenn Wheeler, president of the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce, the entity that runs the popular event. "We added a kids zone with games. There are about 50 vendors — beer, chili, artisans and food."
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Powder Keg event, raffle tickets were available. The winner will win two lifetime passes to the Powder Keg and will likely be very popular with his or her friends and family.
"It's a great event and brings people into Exeter," sad Wheeler. "We are so grateful for our many community partners and our wonderful volunteers."
One volunteer, Amy Faria, said many volunteers return every year, and so do the patrons.
"I had many people in line today who told me it was their 10th anniversary, too," she said.
The Duck Race, another chamber event, is held each year on the same day. The fundraiser benefits the community children's fund, providing aid to families.
