Power outage map: Thousands in Georgia, Michigan in the dark; over 300,000 outages across US

Powerful storms battered parts of the country Thursday, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without power.

According to PowerOutage.US, over 89,000 homes and businesses in Georgia, and over 59,000 homes and businesses in Michigan were experiencing power outages as of 7:04 a.m. ET.

Additionally, over 29,000 customers were without power in Pennsylvania, over 26,000 were without power in Ohio and over 22,000 were without power in Tennessee.

According to the National Weather Service, there are flash flooding and severe weather threats across parts of the East Coast, lower Mississippi Valley and southern Plains regions Friday.

"A cold front sweeping through the East Coast and Southeast will be the focus for thunderstorms over the next couple of days," the weather service said.

Parts of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Vermont could see thunderstorms and heavy rainfall Friday.

According to the weather service, the corridor extending from Oklahoma to Georgia could see over an inch of rainfall, wind damage and hail.

A majority of the outages in Georgia are being reported from the northern portion of the state.

As of 6:49 a.m. ET, Forsyth County had over 19,000 reported outages, Clarke County had over 14,000 reported outages and Cherokee County had over 8,000 reported outages.

Michigan power outage map

Most of the power outages in Michigan are being reported from the eastern portion of the state.

As of 6:48 a.m. ET, both Wayne and Oakland counties have over 17,000 reported outages and Macomb County has over 10,000 outages reported.

Tennessee power outage map

Nearly all of the outages reported in Tennessee are in the southwest portion of the state, specifically Shelby County.

As of 7:04 a.m. ET, there were nearly 20,000 reported outages in the county.
