Power Outages Mount As Storm Intensifies: Patch PM

More than 45,000 power customers across Massachusetts are in the dark a gusty rainstorm intensifies around the state.

The majority of outages as are in southeastern and southwestern Massachusetts.

The strongest winds are expected to last through 11 p.m. and blow along the coast and in the southeastern part of the state. A 66-mile-per-hour wing gust was recorded at the Blue Hills Observatory in Milton.

Outages should continue to mount late into Monday night. The storm will persist into the overnight hours.

Police Asking For Help As Random Attacks Have City On Edge

Waltham police said the person responsible for half a dozen random attacks at the Gardencrest apartment complex, is likely also responsible for another half a dozen attacks around the city.

"The person responsible for these crimes appears to be lying in wait and attacking victims by surprise," police said in a statement Monday.

MA Man Who Worked At Preschool Charged With Child Porn Possession

A Sutton man who worked as a preschool teacher in Sweden has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, according to federal prosecutors.

The investigation began in July when Yahoo notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about images of naked children that were sent from an email account belonging to Oliver Smith, according to court documents.

At the time, Smith was teaching at a preschool in Stockholm. In August, Swedish police arrested Smith near his home. Smith, 45, told the Swedish investigators he had downloaded hundreds of explicit images of children, according to court documents.
