Power rankings: Bills’ Brandon Beane among best in GM poll

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has quickly become one of the most highly touted people in his position.

Over at NFL.com recently, Beane was reflected in that light. A power ranking poll for NFL general managers was put together and Beane is only edged out by a few. He’s named the league’s fourth-best GM when it comes to the NFL draft.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sean McDermott is the alpha in Buffalo because he essentially hired Beane, but there’s no gray area regarding the job the Bills’ front office has done since McDermott arrived. His first draft in Buffalo (without Beane, who came aboard shortly after) included Tre’Davious White, Dion Dawkins and Matt Milano. They’ve all signed long-term extensions since. Beane’s aggressive move to trade up for Josh Allen in 2018 will define his tenure for as long as the quarterback thrives. Buffalo had a vision for Allen, and then executed the best way to support him, even if the last two Bills drafts are shaping up as less noteworthy.

In the operation, the Bills’ best and worst draft picks since Beane (and McDermott) took over the team’s front office were labeled. Those were named quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Zay Jones, respectively.

Can’t hit on ’em all, but Allen more than makes up for the Jones miss. Allen has the Bills in a position to be successful potentially for the next decade-plus.

Overall on the rest of the poll, the only three picked ahead of Beane are the Colts’ Chris Ballard, who leads the group, followed by the Steelers’ Kevin Colbert and Bucs’ Jason Licht.
