Power to return by 9 p.m. following a single-car crash into an electric pole on Vann Drive

Power remains out for a number of businesses along Vann Drive following a single-car collision between a personal vehicle and a power pole in front of the Madison Town Centre.

Officers on the scene stated that around 1:30 p.m., a personal vehicle collided with a power pole on Vann Drive, resulting in the power outage of surrounding businesses including Cracker Barrel, America Best Value Inn and Suites, and all shops within the Madison Town Centre.

The driver was uninjured, according to officers.

The intersection of Highway 45 and Vann Drive down to Country Club Lane remains blocked off until crews finish repair work, which is anticipated to be around 9 p.m.

“We have most of the businesses back on, except this isolated section,” said Charlie Jones, the scene supervisor with Jackson Energy Authority, as he directed the work. “This ain’t nothing new, this is just the job.”

Jackson Fire Department Station 5 was unaffected.
