Powerball's Wednesday drawing will be for $750M: Here's what you need to know

Pick your lucky numbers: The largest lottery jackpot of 2019 has swelled to an estimated $750 million.

After Saturday night’s Powerball drawing came and went without a winner of the grand prize, Wednesday’s drawing will be for the fourth-largest lottery prize in U.S. history – and the biggest since Mega Millions reached a staggering $1.537 billion in October 2018. The lump sum payout would be $465.5 million.

Your odds of hitting the jackpot, according to Powerball: 1 in about 292 million. Sigh.

But, hey, if you want to feel better about your chances: Powerball says 1 in every 24.87 tickets is a winner – from a few bucks up to many thousands.

When’s the drawing?

10:59 p.m. EDT. Don’t wait until the last minute to buy your tickets, though. Sales cutoff times vary by state, closing 59 minutes ahead of the drawing in states including California, Florida and New York but 90 minutes prior to the drawing in Colorado, for example.

How much are tickets?

$2. You can choose to spend an additional $1 per line for Power Play for a chance to multiply your non-jackpot winnings.

Where can I play?

In 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Where can’t I play?

These six states: Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada and Utah.

The Powerball jackpot has grown weekly since a New York man matched all six numbers on Dec. 26 of last year to claim a $298.3 million jackpot.

The only Powerball prizes bigger than Wednesday’s jackpot: A $1.586 billion prize – the largest in world history – that was split by winners in California, Florida and Tennessee in January 2016 and a $758.7 million winner for a Massachusetts woman in August 2017.
