Powerball jackpot hits $572M. Here's when the next drawing is in Arizona

The Powerball jackpot has risen to $572 million after lottery players failed to hit it big in Wednesday night's drawing.

According to the Powerball website, there were no winners of prizes upward of $1 million Wednesday night, putting any dreams of becoming a millionaire on hold until Saturday's drawing. That means players can now set their sights on a jackpot of $572 million with a cash option of $308.9 million.

The Powerball jackpot was last won on Nov. 19 when a Kansas ticket cashed out for $92.9 million.

What were the Powerball winning numbers?

The winning numbers for Wednesday's drawing were: 9, 17, 20, 38, 40, Powerball: 18

The Power Play was 2x.

What are the odds of winning the Powerball?

According to the Powerball website, the odds of winning a prize are always one in 24.9.

Winning the jackpot, however, is listed as a one in 292 million chance.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

The next Powerball drawing will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28. Drawings are held three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 8:59 p.m. MST.

How do you play Powerball?

Tickets can be purchased from any participating gas stations, grocery stores and convenience stores. When purchasing your ticket, you will have the option to pick six numbers or have them generated for you. Whatever the choice, the first five white numbers will be numbered between one and 69. These numbers cannot repeat. The sixth number, the red Powerball, will be numbered between one and 26.

Players have the option to do the Power Play, which can multiply their winnings anywhere from 2x to 10x (excluding the jackpot and $1 million prize, which will only go up to $2 million).

  • Matching the Powerball number: $4.

  • 1 Winning number + Powerball number: $4.

  • 2 Winning numbers + Powerball number: $7.

  • 3 Winning numbers: $7.

  • 3 Winning numbers + Powerball number: $100.

  • 4 Winning numbers: $100.

  • 4 Winning numbers + Powerball number: $50,000.

  • 5 Winning numbers: $1 million.

  • 5 Winning numbers + Powerball number: Grand prize.
