Powerball Saturday, Oct. 14, at $20 million days after $1.765 billion winner in California

We're back to $20 million!

After one ticket in California matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Wednesday, Oct. 11, drawing for an estimated $1.765 billion, the jackpot is at $20 million for Saturday, Oct. 14. Saturday numbers were 14-16-42-48-64 and the Powerball was 14. Power Play was 2x. We have our first rollover since Wednesday's reset, and now the jackpot climbs to $34 million with a cash option of $15.4 million.

Two big winners did cash in after Saturday night's drawings. Match 5 tickets were purchased in Nebraska and South Carolina for a $1 million prize.

Midway Market in Frazier Park, California, sold the winning ticket and received a $1 million bonus for the Oct. 11 Powerball drawing.

"I want to thank the Frazier Park community and the California Lottery for supporting and providing for us. I want to make sure my kids have enough funds for college," Nidal (Andy) Khalil, co-owner of Midway Market, told the California Lottery. The lottery reported retail partners in California earned more than $18 million in commissions and bonuses.

This billion-dollar Powerball win follows the previous record jackpot won July 19 in California. The winner of that $1.08 billion prize has not been announced publicly, but has up to one year from the drawing date to claim their windfall. The lump sum cash value is $774.1 million.

In case you're wondering, Wednesday, Oct. 11, numbers were 22-24-40-52-64 and the Powerball was 10. Power Play was 2x.

Where shopping is a pleasure? In 3 weeks, 6 Florida winners bought million-dollar lotto tickets at Publix

Though the big winner is in California, two tickets from Florida won $1 million each in the Oct. 11 $1.765 billion Powerball draw. The Florida tickets were purchased from Sunshine Supermarket, 50 Wilson Blvd. South, Suite 1, Naples, and Publix, 12500 W. Sunrise Blvd., Sunrise.

After no one matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Monday, Oct. 9, drawing, the jackpot shot up to $1.73 billion in a matter of hours. Final estimates was $1.765 billion.

Monday's drawing also proved lucky for someone in the Sunshine State: Florida had one big winner as one ticket matched 5 plus the Power Play for a $2 million prize. That ticket was sold at Publix, 9359 Sheridan St., Hollywood. There also were four tickets that matched 5 for $1 million prizes. Those tickets were purchased in California, Indiana, Oregon and Virginia.

This Powerball series, which started in July, produced several second-tier (or million-dollar) winners in Florida. In less than three weeks, from Sept. 23 to Oct. 11, there were seven second-tier winners, with a majority of those million-dollar winning tickets being sold at a Publix. Here's a quick recap:

One of three winning tickets for the $1.586 billion Powerball drawing on Jan. 13, 2016, was sold at a Publix in Melbourne Beach, Florida.

The winning ticket for the Aug. 8, 2023, Mega Millions drawing for $1.58 billion was sold at a Publix in Neptune Beach, Florida.

This billion-dollar frenzy follows this past summer's lotto series after someone in California won the Powerball jackpot for $1.08 billion. In three months, this Powerball lottery grand prize has increased from $20 million to the current pot.

On July 19, a single ticket in California matched all five numbers plus the Powerball to win $1.08 billion, the second-largest jackpot since the record-setting $2.04 billion in November.
