PPD: Man stole truck, shot at owner who climbed in truck bed as suspect drove away

Escambia County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Monday morning after he allegedly stole a pickup truck and shot at the owner while driving through Pensacola.

The incident occurred around 10:25 a.m., according to Pensacola Police Department spokesman Mike Wood, when 40-year-old Aubray Dion Grandison allegedly stole a pickup truck from the Circle K at A and Garden streets while the owner was inside the store.

"The truck's owner grabbed onto the vehicle and was dragged a short distance in the parking lot before he was able to jump into the bed of the truck," according to a PPD release. "The suspect located a handgun inside the truck and fired shots at the owner."

Grandison will be charged with attempted murder and vehicle theft, according to Wood.

During the incident, the Grandison allegedly shot an uninvolved vehicle as it was traveling west on Garden Street.

As the truck continued down Garden Street toward Pace Boulevard, "the suspect began shooting again at the truck's owner who was still in the bed of the truck."

"The vehicle then traveled west on Jackson Street, and as it approached Shoemaker Street, more shots were fired by the suspect at the victim," the release stated. "The victim then got out of the bed of the truck and ran as additional shots were fired at him."

ECSO deputies saw the truck, but as they tried to stop it, the Grandison allegedly fled. Deputies eventually stopped the truck and arrested the him.

No one was injured during the incident.
