PPIC poll tackles California power shutoffs

A new poll from the Public Policy Institute of California shows that three out of five residents are very or somewhat concerned about the threat of power shutoffs. The poll also found that only one in three people were confident in how local utility companies have handled the shutoffs. The confidence was lowest in the Bay Area. People also had mixed responses on how Gov. Gavin Newsom has handled wildfires and shutoffs in the state. Forty-six percent of Californians approved of how he has handled these issues, which is similar to his overall approval rating at 48 percent. Nearly two-thirds of people in California said they were at least somewhat concerned about the threat of wildfires.
