Prague university shooting: People killed and injured, police say

Multiple people have been killed and dozens more injured at a shooting at a university in Prague.

Officers said there was an unspecified number of dead and wounded, and that the gunman had been “eliminated”.

“Based on initial information we can confirm there are dead and injured people at the site,” police said on social media.

They said officers were deployed due to a shooting at a school in Jan Palach Square.

The Philosophical Faculty of Charles University and the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design are located in that area.

Police gave no details about the victims or the circumstances of the shooting in the Czech Republic’s capital.

A spokesperson for the rescue service confirmed numerous people were injured.
