New Prairie claims 4A football sectional title, Northridge next

New Prairie had three first-half interceptions leading to scores to take a 49-14 lead and a second-half running clock to beat Hobart, 49-28, in a Class 4A high school football sectional championship Friday night in Hobart, Ind.

New Prairie's big win sets the Cougars, 11-1, up for a regional showdown against last year's Class 4A runnerup Northridge, 8-4.

Junior Brock Sinka, sophomore Hayden Scott and senior Dallas Ryans each intercepted a pass for the Cougars in the first half.

Senior Noah Mungia led the superior rushing attack with 227 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns. Junior quarterback Marshall Kmiecik had eight carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Kmieck also threw to juniors Matt Source and Reece Lapczynski for scores.

Defensively, Tayvion Ortman and Brady Burnett each had seven tackles. Sinka had six tackles and Nathan Andrysiak five. Junior Dylan Wilson had a sack.

Class 2A: Andrean 56, Bremen 13

Notre Dame running back commit Drayk Bowen ran for three consecutive touchdowns spanning the second and third quarters as defending 2A champion Andrean beat Bremen for another sectional title.

Bowen carried the ball 16 times for 148 yards, a 9.3 average per carry. Andrean, 8-3, will meet Lafayette Central Catholic, 9-3, in next Friday regional.

For Bremen, Tyrus Graverson and Reece Greene each completed TD passes for the Lions scoring, with Graverson catching the pass from Greene. Bremen finishes the year 7-5.

Class 3A: Knox 42, Jimtown 21

Quarterback Cohen Watson rushed 13 times for 188 yards and scored three touchdowns as Knox won a Classs 3A sectional title over Jimtown.

Myle McLaughlin scored two times for the Redskins, rushing 19 times for 127 yards. Knox will take a 9-3 record into regional action next Friday against unbeaten West Lafayette (12-0)

Bishop Williams had two TDs for Jimtown — a 50-yard run and a 60-yard run. Williams finished with 129 yards on eight carries. Sam Garner also scored for the Jimmies, who finish the season 9-3.
