TAYLOR, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — In Lackawanna County, a pre-championship football game event was held earlier Saturday, but it wasn’t the kind of celebration you might expect by the name.
This one was all about trains. The Taylor Hose and Engine Company number one has held this train show for the last fifteen years.
It began as a way for local train collectors to come together to buy and sell model trains and railroad memorabilia.
Over the years, the event has grown to host around 70 vendors and 500 people from all over.
“There’s a bunch of us that are hobbyists collecting trains or doing things with trans diecast models stuff like that and there aren’t that many shows around anymore so we just got together. we started doing one or two a year, and the next thing you know we’re up to four,” explained Joseph Iacovazzi the organizer.
This was the first train show of the year with three others to follow in September, October, and December.
