Predators forward Ryan Johansen was fined $5,000 by the NHL for elbowing Lightning forward Brayden Point during Tampa Bay's 3-2 overtime win at Nashville on Tuesday.
The league's Department of Player Safety announced the fine Wednesday, which is the maximum amount allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.
The incident occurred at 9:07 of the second period, and Johansen was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct penalty for elbowing.
Johansen, 27, is a nine-year veteran and currently in his fifth season with the Predators after he spent the first half of his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 27 games this year, he has 17 points (four goals, 13 assists).
The money will to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
