Each week during the high school football season, I'm inviting a guest to join me in predicting the winner of each West Sound game. Just for fun, we'll throw in picks for the Seattle Seahawks, UW and WSU as well.

For Week 2, the guest picker is local sports correspondent George Edgar.

Kitsap Sun editor David Nelson and I both went 8-2 picking games in Week 1, which saw Bremerton knock off Central Kitsap for the first time since 2002. North Kitsap and Kingston also picked up victories.

WEEK 2

Thursday

Bremerton (1-0) at Klahowya (0-1), 6:30 p.m.: The Knights play for the second straight week on the road, taking on a Klahowya team that lost 41-21 at home to Coupeville in Week 1. Jeff: Bremerton; George: Bremerton

Bothell (0-1) at Central Kitsap (0-1), 7 p.m.: The visiting Cougars, one of the top teams in 4A, fell to 3A powerhouse O'Dea in their opener. This is a tough bounce-back game for the host Cougars, who'll play defending South Sound Conference 3A champion Yelm on the road in Week 3. That's as difficult as a two-week stretch as any West Sound team will face all season. Jeff: Bothell; George: Bothell

Friday

Steilacoom (0-1) at North Mason (0-1), 6 p.m.: The Bulldogs play their home opener after falling to Mason County rival Shelton last week, 39-18. Steilacoom got thumped 51-0 against Highline last week, but has been one of the top 2A programs in recent seasons. Jeff: Steilacoom; George: Steilacoom.

Renton (0-1) at Olympic (0-1), 6:30 p.m.: The Trojans are at home after losing 47-27 at 1A power Eatonville in Week 1. Olympic's defense will be looking to improve against a Renton team that opened with a 7-6 loss to West Seattle. Jeff: Olympic; George: Olympic

Rochester (1-0) at Kingston (1-0), 6:30 p.m.: The Buccaneers snapped an 11-game losing streak by beating East Jefferson 50-23 in Week 1, while Rochester beat Seton Catholic in one of the oddest football scores you'll see: 9-8. Jeff: Rochester; George: Rochester

Bainbridge (0-1) at Auburn Mountainview (0-1), 7 p.m.: The Spartans lost 25-20 at home against Hazen in Week 1 and now travel to face an Auburn Mountainview team shut out by Kentridge 14-0. Jeff: Auburn Mountainview; George: Auburn Mountainview

North Kitsap (1-0) at Tumwater (1-0), 7 p.m.: If defending state champion Lynden is No. 1 in 2A, these two teams aren't far behind. At least that's how Scorebook Live felt in the preseason, ranking NK No. 2 and Tumwater No. 3 in the 2A state poll. The Vikings are slated to host Tumwater next year. Jeff: North Kitsap; George: North Kitsap

Rogers (0-1) at South Kitsap (0-1), 7 p.m.: The Wolves' defense played well enough to win in Week 1, but the offense couldn't muster any points in a 6-0 loss at home against Bethel. South Kitsap has another prime opportunity to snap its 14-game losing streak this week against Rogers, which lost 56-0 against Graham-Kapowsin last week. Jeff: South Kitsap; George: South Kitsap

Saturday

Washington State (1-0) at Wisconsin (1-0), 12:30 p.m.: The Cougars had to rally against Idaho after falling behind 10-0. They probably can't afford to fall in a similar hole against the Badgers. Jeff: Wisconsin; George: Wisconsin

Portland State (0-1) at Washington (1-0), 1 p.m.: The Huskies' offense had no trouble putting up points last week against Kent State in a 45-20 win. UW needs to keep rolling with Michigan State on tap in Week 3. Jeff: Washington; George: Washington
