For a company started in a London flat when the majority of mobile phones were too large to truly be considered ‘car phones’, Carphone Warehouse has become quite the success story. The retail giant merged with Dixons Retail and Currys PC World in 2014 before going on to launch their own virtual network, iD, the following year.

The ‘warehouse’ is Great Britain’s go-to for all things smartphone and their Black Friday deals routinely beat industry expectations.

One of the undeniable advantages of shopping at Carphone Warehouse for the best Black Friday deals is their sheer range of options: they sell the widest range of handsets in the UK (across Vodafone, EE, Three, O2 and more).

The retail giant frequently offers pay monthly, SIM only and SIM-free deals - not just over Black Friday weekend - meaning they have to showcase superior sales for the annual event.

While they have a tendency to keep their Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals close to their chest until closer to the time, we do expect there will undoubtedly be something for everyone come November 23.

Last year’s Black Friday deals were on offer for an 18-day period and serve as an exciting example of things to come; hundreds of pounds off iPhones, massive discounts on TalkTalk and EE broadband packages, free phones with monthly deals, and more.

The biggest deals included a massive £200 off the Samsung Galaxy S8 (available in black, grey or – exclusive to Carphone Warehouse – in blue) or £29.99 per month iD contract with no upfront cost for the handset. Carphone Warehouse offered the same contract on the iPhone 7 - only with £29.99 upfront - or another £200 off on the handset alone.

They even honoured their ‘price promise’ to match any deal if a customer found a better offer on a pay monthly contract elsewhere.

Carphone Warehouse predictions for 2018

Popular phones like the Apple iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus are likely to reduced monthly costs with smaller upfront fees while Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy S9 are already offered without upfront fees.

We would expect the of the iPhone XS and XS Max to dip below £1000 but not much more as they’re flying off the shelf, regardless. Older iPhones like the SE are safer bets for big deals - Carphone Warehouse are now selling it for £40 off.

The Apple iPhone 7 has already been bundled with a free accessories (the Griffin 1m lightning cable, Xqisit Flap Cover Adour, and the InvisibleShield iPhone Clear Guard Glass Screen Protector) for £339.

The Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL are both new to the retailer and Carphone Warehouse have already knocked £50 off the 2 XL in response; the discount should increase come Black Friday weekend.

The new Nokia 7.1  is currently being sold for only £299 and comes with a free UE Wonderboom speaker worth £89.99. A better bundle is likely to be announced for Black Friday.

Carphone Warehouse are one of a few retailers who champion BlackBerry phones. Both the KEY2 and Motion have been reduced between £70 and £110 over the last few weeks.

Those looking to buy a spare or child-friendly phone should keep an eye out for phone deals under £100. We expect the Alcatel 10.66 will be free for Pay As You Go customers as the Alcatel 10.16 was free with a £10 top up last year.

If you want to play Fortnite on the go, the Razer Phone has your name all over it. It boasts the world's first 120Hz refresh rate on a smartphone and its angular corners were built for gamers -  any deal under £500 will be a steal.

The best deals are expected on the LG V30 (a Carphone Warehouse exclusive) and Sony Xperia XZ2 (just replaced by the XZ3). The V30 is already £100 off (with a consumer favourite dual lens camera) and the Xperia XZ2 £150 off (with a Dynamic Vibration System for more immersive game and movie viewing).

O2 and Vodafone love promoting online-only deals through Carphone Warehouse. It may be worth checking into both networks’ deals if you’re due for a contract renewal.

Mobiles.co.uk and e2save

It is worth noting that the Mobiles.co.uk and e2save websites are part of the Carphone Warehouse family and sometimes offer better deals than their flagship. Mobiles.co.uk is likely to offer major discounts on a select few flagship phones while e2save will promote better offers on last-gen and budget phones.
