Pregnant Shay Mitchell opens up about her past miscarriage: 'You feel broken as a woman'
Shay Mitchell is opening up about her previous miscarriage in 2018.
During the first episode of her YouTube series, "Almost Ready," Mitchell — who is currently pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Matte Babel — revealed that she suffered a miscarriage at 14 weeks.
The "Pretty Little Liars" star, 32, said the experience made her want to "hold on until I announced" her second pregnancy because her first "didn’t go as I had hoped for and it was extremely difficult."
"When it happened, I was just completely blindsided by it," she emotionally said. "I still have those photos on my phone. I still have all the doctor visit (videos), and it’s weird because I haven’t looked at them, but it’s not like I forgot about that happening."
She continued: "Of course, I’m, like, super happy, but I still feel for the one that I lost."

The "You" star revealed on New Year's Day that she suffered a miscarriage in 2018, sharing a picture of a sonogram with a broken heart emoji.
"We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life," she wrote. "The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams."
On Wednesday, Mitchell admitted that she had "no idea the percentage of miscarriages" before it happened to her. She added that it made her "feel broken as a woman."

Mitchell announced her second pregnancy on Instagram and YouTube last month.
"Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the car pool lane at all times now?" she captioned a topless maternity shot that displayed her growing baby bump on Instagram.
In a YouTube video, titled "Guess Who's Preggers," the actress said that her and Babel, 38, are "beyond excited and looking forward to starting a family."
"I've learned so much about myself and parenthood over the past 6 months, and feel like I haven't even scratched the surface! It's going to be a wild ride!" she said.
The couple, who started dating three years ago, are having a baby girl.
