Pregnant women need to take in more calories

The nutritional requirements for pregnancy are different from non-pregnant women. A woman pregnant with one baby should increase her caloric intake by 300 calories per day. If she is expecting twins, it should be increased by 600 calories per" day, and with triplets, the increase should be by 900 calories per day. Mercy Medical Center's Dr. Rachel Adams said pregnant women should also increase protein consumption to 70 to 100 grams a day depending on body weight.
